Jukka Rintamäki composes music for games, films, theatre and dance. His latest album A Run Through the Forest is a cinematic album with dark strings and electronic elements.
“This album has been developed over a period of five years so I think it has become nicely spread out and multifaceted. The fact that it takes a little time makes the sound world interesting, more layers develop, annual rings of different sound ideals.”
Musicians playing on the album include cellist Emma Augustsson and Anton Svanberg on wind instruments. The track Vasa - Düsseldorf features the instrument ophicleide, brilliantly played by Svanberg. A brass instrument invented in the 19th-century, it had its short heyday in the middle of the 19th century, but it was difficult to play and difficult to tune. Also for being a bass instrument, it really isn't low at all so it was soon replaced by other instruments.
The wonderful cover and inner sleeves is signed by artist Ragnar Persson and his work is represented in several private and public collections, including those of Moderna Museet and The Swedish Public Art Agency. Persson has also designed other cover art and art for merchandise for bands like Kite and Viagra Boys.
A Run Through the Forest was digitally released May 2nd and will be available on limited edition 180 gram white vinyl in December under license to Ryggen Fri Records.

"I love composing music for many different kinds of projects. It gives me a lot to be in different contexts and work with people from many different art forms, performing arts, film, games, pop, etc. I hope that is reflected in the music on the album, that it gets some kind of depth from the fact that there are influences from many different art forms."
